How We Met

When Katie started her new job in the marketing department of a Chicago law firm, Adam was one of the first people she met. A quick camaraderie developed, and after a few weeks they started getting lunch together. Lunch morphed into a daily morning coffee trip to the Starbucks across from work (grande blonde for her, grande Americano for him). 95% of their co-workers either assumed they were already dating or thought they should be dating, which they expressed loudly and frequently to both Katie and Adam. "No", Katie and Adam said, "we're just friends."

Three years to the day they met, Adam left to work at another law firm. He had a few days off before starting his new job, and on Monday morning, showed up at Katie's office for their daily coffee routine. He asked her to go to dinner that night, and they never looked back.

Our Engagement

In September 2016, Katie and Adam flew to Italy for a 10-day trip. They started in Florence (art! food!), then spent several days in the Tuscan countryside (wine! food!) before heading north to Lake Como (mountains! food!). They had planned to do a private boat rental with the proceeds from their "change jar" and picked up some delicious Italian sandwiches before heading out on the water. After cruising around Lake Como for about half an hour, Adam stopped the boat and surprised Katie with a proposal. Amazingly, neither of them dropped the ring in the water! And then they got to eat their sandwiches.

About Katie

A St. Louis native, Katie attended Syracuse University in the tundra of central New York. Although she spent most of her time working at the student newspaper, she somehow still found time to graduate with degrees in newspaper journalism and political science. After spending a year in Ohio, she moved to Chicago in 2009 and is an Account Supervisor at advertising agency FCB.

Katie likes potatoes, goats, reading, planning trips, taking trips, cuddling with Ripley, cooking and her college friends, "The Serv."

She is a Cardinals fan.

About Adam

Originally from Chicago's south suburbs, Adam attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated with a degree in biology. He promptly shoved the diploma into a drawer and decided to go into information technology. He currently works as a network engineer at Jenner & Block, a law firm headquartered in Chicago.

Adam likes donuts, live music, playing video games, watching movies, wearing ties, Redditing and taking care of his reef tank.

He is a Cubs fan.
